Volunteer - Golden Care Club
ONE ON ONE GOLDEN CARE CLUB

The goal of the One on One Golden Care Club is to enhance the lives of the Goldens at the Sanctuary & Center by periodically having a One on One Care volunteer spend a large segment of time during the day with just one Sanctuary Resident. The One on One Caregiver provides that specific Golden with experiences that bring comfort, happiness and cognitive stimulation.

They provide significant time for the Golden Resident with the One on One Caregiver outside their individual living unit participating in the following activities :

  1. Time in the Sanctuary’s Great Room

  2. Being outside ( weather permitting) in the Play Yards

  3. Receiving One on One time in the Gazebo

  4. Visiting with the farm animal neighbors

  5. Sitting on the Sanctuary’s Farmer Porch being petted and watching the other Goldens in the play areas.

  6. In The Spa…“Every Day is a Spa Day” for the residents of the Sanctuary. Daily grooming will always be provided, but periodically bathing, brushing, clipping (just a little off the top please….) pedicures and when appropriate full body massages or just ears, feet and head will be something that the One on One Caregiver can assist with depending on their skill level.

  7. Any place at the Sanctuary playing one on one with interactive toys and just cuddling.

  8. Any area of the Sanctuary, on the patio or on the grounds will receive Hand Feeding of healthy snacks if eating is an issue for the resident.
Individuals that participate in this Club will receive training and will always have staff members available for guidance.

If the One on One volunteer caregiver is not trained in grooming, that will be done by a volunteer groomer and just brushing and massage will be done by the One on One volunteer.

Massage classes will be part of the Club’s training program. Full body massages may not be appropriate for Goldens with certain Cancers.

The Club Volunteers provide services on a per diem schedule and the volunteers can come any day of the week for a minimum of 4 hours per visit. We do ask that you provide visits 2 to 4 times during a month. Of course if you prefer to come more frequently the Goldens will greatly enjoy your presence.
